WHAT ARE THE ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS?
Applicants must be at least 62 years of age, income qualified and must be able to care for their personal needs, or otherwise arrange for that care.
WHAT IF I AM DISABLED?
Those who are handicapped or disabled according to Social Security and HUD guidelines are eligible, as long as they meet other entrance guidelines.
WHAT IF THE SPOUSE IS UNDERAGED?
As long as the head of the household is qualified, the spouse is considered qualified.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Eligibility to rent is based on age, income, and assets. Eligibility cannot be determined until after completion of the application process.
HOW DO YOU CALCULATE MY RENT?
Rent is based on total income, adjusted for medical allowances. The adjusted net income is multiplied by 30% to determine the monthly rent amount.
ARE THE APARTMENTS FURNISHED?
Refrigerators, electric ranges, and Venetian blinds are furnished. All other furnishings are provided by the resident so that the apartment looks like home.
ARE THERE OTHER COSTS?
Cable TV and telephone services are extra. All other utilities are furnished.
WHO CONTROLS THE TEMPERATURE OF EACH APARTMENT?
Individuals can control the temperature in their apartment.
WHAT ARE THE SAFETY FEATURES?
Each apartment has an emergency pull cord in the bathroom and the bedroom. During working hours our staff is here in case of an emergency. We also have Courtesy Monitors at our lobby desk after work hours and all through the weekends and holidays. Our staff is always available whenever there is a need.
DO YOU HAVE HANDICAPPED UNITS?
Yes, we have 5 handicapped units. However, according to HUD guidelines, all residents, including handicapped or disabled, are welcome to live in a non-handicapped apartment. All sidewalks, entrances, and facilities are accessible.
HOW BIG ARE THE APARTMENTS?
We have 98 apartments. Of these, 94 are one bedroom and 4 are two bedrooms. Individual floor plans are shown below.
WHAT ABOUT CHILDREN?
HUD has designated HUTTO TOWER as a Senior Adult facility. As such, we maintain our intended purpose by not housing children. Of course, you are welcome to have your children and grandchildren visit you in accordance with established policy.
WHAT ABOUT LAUNDRY FACILITIES?
We have well equipped, coin-operated laundry facilities on each floor.
WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED?
A wide range of activities are offered on our campus. Ceramics, bingo, painting, crafts, Village Voices Choir, religious programs, social and recreational activities, and some educational programs are available to our residents. We also have a beauty/barber shop that our residents enjoy. An active Nutrition Center meets Monday through Friday.
